Possible character traits of Golden Retriever and German Shepherd Mix - Such is probably his nature.

Goldens are known for their thick, shiny coats, while German Shepherds have coarser, smoother coats. Our puppy's coat is somewhere in the middle - not as thick as a Golden's, but not as thin as a German Shepherd's. It needs to be brushed regularly to prevent matting, but not too much.

Its color is mainly black with some golden and white markings. It has the long muzzle of a Golden and the erect ears of a German Shepherd.

Temperament:

This is where the German Shepherd/Golden Retriever mix shines. Our puppy is even-tempered, good with children and other animals, and extremely intelligent. He is easy to train and very loyal.

The only downside is that he is a bit of an escape artist. He has figured out how to open gates and doors, so we have to be extra careful to keep him safe.

Health:

German Shepherds tend to have hip and elbow dysplasia, while Golden Retrievers tend to have problems with their hips, elbows and eyes. Our puppy has remained healthy so far, but we make sure he sees the vet regularly and gets vaccinated.

Overall, we couldn't be happier with our German Shepherd-Golden Retriever mix. He is the perfect addition to our family.
